During our asynchronous session, Dr. Bert went over the objectives for the course and his expectations. This is always key to a smooth course. I am the type of person that needs to know what I will be learning/ doing, what is expected, and when it's due.
During our first class, Dr. Bert had us introduce ourselves as well. We shared who we were, our locus of control, and what we would like to get out of this class. I like how some of us were teachers and others were not. One thing that made me take Dr. Bert's class was because of the previous experience I had in a previous course I took with him. I learned about so many tools that I did not even know could be incorporated into an online learning environment, let alone even know about in general. The class left me wanting to learn more about the tools that are out there.

ReplyDeleteGreat job with your first blog posts! Mahalo for sharing your thoughts! I, too, enjoy the synchronous sessions for our online classes as it helps us build rapport with our peers, our TA's and our instructor. Even though we can't "see" each other, the group discussions and sharing gives us a sense of community. Classes that have synchronous and asynchronous sessions seem to work the best for me. On the week's we don't have "class," I spend those hours reading up on our assignments and reflecting on my learning. It seems to work well for me.
Also, like you, I have had Dr. Bert before and really enjoy his teaching style and format of his class. I always know I will learn new tools and actually put it into practice. Also, the group assignments allow us to get to know our classmates better and help to improve my collaboration skills. I'm sure this semester will be no different. Looking forward to getting to know you better and learning along with you this term.
A hui hou,
Terri
