During our asynchronous time, we had to informally interview 5-8 colleagues. I interviewed colleagues from both jobs. I noticed that many uses Facebook and Instagram. I noticed that my results were similar to the Pew Research results. For example, many used Facebook compared to other social media. I figured many used social media to keep in contact with family and friends. My assumption was confirmed by the responses of the participants. It also stated that in the Pew Research.
I mainly used Facebook prior to being in the LTEC program. However, through the program I have been able to learn and experience a variety of tools including instagram, twitter, and blogspot. I found that it is fun to commuicate with people in different social media platforms. Although I have multiple social media accounts I am still concerned about privacy issues. Privacy was definitely an important topic to cover.
Hi Brittany,
ReplyDeleteI'm always concerned about privacy in the back of my head as I keep creating more accounts online. It was good to talk about it in class and get useful tips about making difficult passwords and like you said erasing your history.
In my interviews my participants also used Facebook and Instagram the most. Most of them said that they use it to stay connected with people but they also use it to pass time when they are bored. A lot of people admitted to using it too much and at times when they shouldn't. It was interesting to hear them say positive and negative comments about the social media they used. Being in the ETEC program a year now I have downloaded and joined a lot of social media groups. It is fun to use different apps and see what each one has to offer. I agree that privacy was an important topic to cover and I think I will always be concerned also. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
